FAIA BRAVA RESERVE – GRAND ROUTE OF CÔA VALLEY
This walking tour allows you to discover the essence and history of Faia Brava Reserve and enjoy the sounds and the landscape of the Côa Valley.
This stage starts in the village of Cidadelhe. The Route makes its way through the village and goes down to the Côa River, first along rougher footpaths, then along a car road, ending up in the ‘Union Bridge’.
The next section of this stage follows the road on its way up to the entrance of the Faia Brava Reserve. From this point, the way continues through forest tracks and footpaths, passing by large areas of cork oak and holm oak, interrupted by olive tree plantations and pastures.
At a point of the way there is a hundred-year-old tree. Around there one can observe the vertical escarpments of Côa. Finally, the Route gets away from the river through olive tree and almond tree plantations and vineyards, to arrive at the village of Algodres.
To be amazed with the flight of the cliff breeds birds that dominate the skies, or the intense color of the birds that visit us during the summer.
The herd of horses and cows that livein the wild in the reserve make us retreat 20000 years, in the time when they dominated the Côa Valley and where their elegance and importance was recorded in the engravings of the Côa Valley (link)
A unique experience where the calm and tranquility of nature will take care of you.
Part of the value of the safari reverts to nature conservation actions in the Reserve.
